Since 2008, Mashamba has been a leading exporter of high-quality fresh produce from Uganda, connecting local farms to wholesale buyers in the UK, EU, Gulf region, and select global markets — built on quality, speed, and long-term partnerships.
What started as a specialised arm of Icemark-Africa’s fresh produce division is now one of Uganda’s most reliable agricultural airfreight exporters. Recognised early for export excellence — and now strategically expanded, Mashamba represents the best of Ugandan agriculture — fresh, fast, and globally certified.
Here’s how a Ugandan export vision grew into a globally trusted fresh produce supplier.
FFP (U) Ltd, founded in 2006 and operating since 2008 under the brand name Mashamba, was established with a clear mission — to focus exclusively on fresh produce exports from Uganda, separating from Icemark-Africa Ltd’s air cargo operations to specialise in premium agricultural products.
The goal was clear: to champion Uganda’s most prized crops and deliver them fast, fresh, and fully compliant to international buyers.
From our early operations in Luwero to representing Uganda at international showcases like Fruit Logistica Berlin, we have remained steadfast in positioning Uganda’s produce as premium on the global stage — grown by trusted smallholder farmers, managed with rigorous precision, and delivered via priority airfreight from Entebbe International Airport.
Today, we work directly with hundreds of smallholder farmers across Uganda, supported by two in-house agronomists and a loyal seasonal team of graders, packers, and quality supervisors. Many have returned year after year — forming the Mashamba family that makes our exports possible.
For UK, EU, and Gulf market buyers, Mashamba delivers export-certified fresh produce from Uganda with the speed, consistency, and reliability needed to stay competitive.
Every Mashamba shipment is defined by three pillars:
🚀 Speed: Same-day airfreight dispatch from Entebbe ensures peak freshness at arrival.
📦 Consistency: Export-grade sorting, packing, and quality control meet the strictest UK/EU import standards.
🤝 Partnership: Decades of working directly with wholesale buyers and distributors, building long-term supply confidence.
Every shipment is fast, fresh, and fully compliant —because when we deliver, your brand reputation travels with it.
Uganda, known as the Pearl of Africa — and a naturally gifted agricultural hub for fresh produce — consistently delivers premium-quality crops to discerning global markets. Its unique blend of equatorial climate, fertile soils, and sustainable farming traditions gives Ugandan produce a competitive edge in flavour, freshness, and shelf life.
For international buyers, sourcing from Uganda means dependable year-round supply, naturally cultivated quality, and produce that meets the most rigorous import standards in the UK, EU, and beyond. And when paired with Mashamba’s strict export standards, this natural advantage becomes a guarantee of speed, consistency, and compliance.
☀️ Equatorial sunshine year-round – Stable daylight hours and optimal growing conditions for high-value crops like hot pepper, ginger, matoke, sweet potatoes, white African eggplant, and sugar cane.
🌋 Fertile volcanic soils – Enriched by the slopes of Mt Elgon and the Rwenzori Mountains, infusing produce with vibrant flavour and extended shelf life.
💧 Abundant freshwater resources – From Lake Victoria, the Nile Basin, and seasonal rains, naturally irrigating fields, reducing chemical inputs, and supporting sustainable, low-impact farming.
🏔 Diverse altitude zones – From cool highlands to warm lowland plains, enabling multiple harvest cycles and ensuring a reliable export-ready supply throughout the year.
🤝 Direct partnerships with smallholder farmers – Using clean, traditional cultivation methods, Mashamba guarantees every shipment meets strict international standards for freshness, flavour, and food safety — from Uganda’s soil to global shelves.
At the heart of Mashamba’s success is a leadership team blending decades of agricultural export expertise with hands-on logistics and compliance knowledge. Together, they ensure every shipment leaves Uganda fresh, fast, and fully certified — giving international buyers confidence in every delivery.
Kristján brings over twenty‑five years in Uganda’s export ecosystem. He entered fish exports in 1997, co‑founded Icemark‑Africa in 2000, and launched FFP (U) Ltd—now Mashamba—in 2008 to specialise in certified airfreight of premium crops. Resuming full leadership in 2011, he drives growth, operational rigor, and buyer confidence while upholding uncompromising quality standards and resilience across sourcing, packing, compliance, and logistics.
Betty has been a cornerstone of Mashamba since its early years, overseeing operations with precision and calm authority. With accounting and logistics expertise, she streamlines farm‑to‑airport workflows, coordinates smallholder networks, and ensures punctual dispatch. Recognised as Uganda Export Promotion Board’s Female Exporter of the Year 2017, she safeguards speed, reliability, and documentation accuracy that international buyers expect on every shipment.
Benon brings more than fifteen years in food exports, specialising in EU‑aligned quality systems. His background spans production leadership, quality assurance, and process audits across local and international teams. At Mashamba, he oversees grading, sorting, and certified packing, enforcing traceability and food‑safety controls.
